As extensive as my training was, nothing prepared me for the competitive environment I encountered at Samsung Art and Design Institute (SADI). The stringent curriculum was designed to help students cultivate the skills to become elite global designers. It was an intensive three years during which I worked day and night and rarely slept – but I also had a ton of fun! Through SADI’s international affiliations, I transferred to Parsons School of Design in New York City and graduated two years later.
MY CREATIVE PROCESS IS ABOUT BEING IN THE MOMENT AND LETTING GO.
My first job was at Novo Arts, creating custom artwork for businesses – including wall murals for hotel lobbies and even a nightclub in Miami. Later I fell in love with brand development at Scott Kay fine jewelry, where I handled everything from web design and ad campaigns to trade show graphics. This led to positions with Judith Leiber handbags, Saks 5th Avenue, and Revlon, where I’m currently an Art Director.
MY INSPIRATION IS ALWAYS EVOLVING.
The things that inspire me change over time. Growing up, I wandered until the sun went down, picking flowers, examining their details, getting my hands dirty. Lately I’ve been trying to recapture that sense of play. I still carry that vision of feeling free in nature and take walks every morning. It’s an emotional tie to happy moments that fuel my work. I’m also inspired by the ocean, and my dreams. It’s no surprise that I love surrealism – Magritte is my favorite artist of all time!
